The Multiple Abusing of Mrs. Betty A. Baron, Manchester, NH
Legal:Identity-Theft Article GuideBy: Ginger Ferrer
Betty A. Baron is a victim of an ongoing onslaught of physical, mental and financial abuse. Her abusers are an estranged sister-in-law, June Woodard Gentley-Farnum, her own estranged brother and a now former neighbor, Cindy Dawkins.
Mrs. Baron has had her wrist broken six times by these women when Betty lived next door to them. She moved approximately seven months ago to get away from their bullying.
She was attacked yet again last year as she waited for a ride to attend her church service that day. They broke her ribs, rebroke her wrist, fractured her arm and sustained extensive soft tissue damage. The police were called, they did not respond. She was taken to the Emergency Room of one of the local hospitals. Her wounds have been documented. It was only because she was treated at the hospital that the police finally showed up after being called by hospital staff.
The two women were arrested. They were in jail for five days before bail released them. When the case was heard, the Judge dismissed the charges. The reason. No witnesses. Mrs. Baron's testimony and documented physical trauma carried no weight at all. She requested a restraining order be ordered on both these attackers. Only one was. This was to Cindy Dawkins, the former neighbor. The sister-in-law retained an attorney and perjured herself magnificently in court, denying the allegations and providing perjured proof she was not there during the time of the attack.
Recently the restraining order was contested by Cindy Dawkins. She won, it was overturned. That same day she made two appearances at Mrs. Baron's residence. She was driving a dirty white noisy automobile. I saw her. I was visiting Betty when this car making a lot of noise passed me and pulled into Mrs. Baron's driveway. I looked straight at her. This she will not be able to deny, although I am sure she will make every effort to do so.
The other matter concerns identity theft allegedly by Mrs. Baron's sister-in-law, who ironically looks so much like Mrs. Baron, she passes for her. Mrs. Baron's savings account was cleaned out by a person impersonating Mrs. Baron at the bank. These funds were Social Security Disability deposits received by Mrs. Baron as a consequence of qualifying for disability and being granted a lump sum with monthly payments to follow suit. Her loss is at the $4,000.00 mark and counting. There are related charges imposed on her savings account as well as interest lost and other impositions. Because these monies were and are federal level deposits from a federal level agency it was reported to same.
Social Security Fraud Investigators and The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency are investigating. These are federal level violations and when it is proven that the alleged impersonator Mrs. Farnum perpetrated these illegal misdeeds I am sure she will not be able to perjure her way out of it, no matter how well her attorney represents her.
There is a big difference between local law seemingly practiced in a callous and indifferent manner and federal level law.
In the meantime Mrs. Baron is held hostage in her own home and life with fear of the promised threat of them killing her. She relates that last year her own brother tried to run her over with his van as she waited outside her residence for her usual ride to attend church that evening. This next reference is conjecture on my part. But it is my perception that these individuals want to intimidate Mrs. Baron so much so, she will no longer continue to persue the loss of her savings from her bank or with Social Security. The irony is, that once federal investigations begin no matter what, if the victim is alive or not the perpetrators will have to answer for their proven illegal acts. Especially when signatures, bank surveillance tapes and other paperwork establishes the fact that Mrs. Baron's savings account was defrauded of the missing monies she is seeking.
These people are remorseless and relentless, yet the local law and the judiciary do not appear to be able to fairly protect this woman from the promised harm her attackers have stated they will inflict on her. Mrs. Baron is what one could say is slow. She is a gentle woman, with a speech impediment and seemingly the inability to articulate succinctly her dilemmas. I believe it is because of this that the law enforcements officials of this city do not take her seriously. This is how and why I became involved. She does not have an attorney, nor anyone to speak for her. She has been bullied beyond acceptability. She has been grossly violated and made to suffer pain and injury as well as financial losses because of the actions of these two alleged human beings as referenced herein. Add to this the seemingly cavalier manner of some of the bank officials at Bank of America here in Manchester, NH and the picture is complete. They have mistreated Mrs. Baron, suggesting she is the imposter. She is the victim, yet she is treated like the perpetrator of these fraudulent acts. It is only with the assistance of The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, the F.D.I.C. and Social Security that something positive is finally beginning to take place.
When will victims ever receive the same level of rights as the perpetrator of criminal misconduct? Lawyer or no lawyer, the law should stand on its own.
Mrs. Baron should not be victimized any further and her monies should be returned to her, as her bank, The Bank of America was notified and they have done very little to correct this theft of Mrs. Baron's savings account.
Time will tell.
