Commonwealth of Virginia Legislature Franchise Rule Bill

Legal Article Guide
By: Lance Winslow

Many would be politicians assume that more regulation on businesses will some how help the public and consumer. The truth is regulations must be followed by business and there is always a cost to doing so. These costs can cause unintended consequences for instance; put excessive hardship on the business causing it to go out of business or forcing the business owner to collect those costs in higher prices to consumers. Thus the consumer is either damaged in higher costs or less competition and choice in the market. This of course being the exact opposite of what brain dead loser regulators think that they are trying to do with increased regulations, therefore the Commonwealth of Virginia Legislature in studying the proposed Franchise Rule Bill is making a huge mistake like so many stupid politicians have in the past.

What can businesses do to alert the consumers of the missteps of such idiots in government? Well here is a quote from a franchisor to a franchise buyer in the Commonwealth of Virginia explaining why he would not sell a franchise to the buyer:

“I am sorry this over regulation has prevented you from having the consumer choice to join our elite team. This is often what happens when such regulations create roadblocks and barriers to entry in various market segments. I am also sorry for the residents of your state in that the Commonwealth will now receive less revenue in taxation to help the common good due to the decreased businesses these regulations cause. This in turn is affecting things such as schools, roads, public safety, health care, libraries and the many government agencies in the area. Virginia is amongst the top worst states in the union for franchise regulations which hurts employment figures as well, too bad really, maybe some day the government might get their heads out of their asses. However it is very doubtful as I am sure you know living within the belt-way.”

“Due to these facts, I would most likely be unable and perhaps even unwilling to assist you in anyway. Also there is much business in VA in the after market auto sector even on surf day, so part time detailing is also a tough one, it might turn into full time rather quickly with a minimal of referrals, as you will most likely figure out as you get started on your own.”

“Good luck in your new future business where failure rates are 5:1 and again so sorry for all the morons in the regulatory bodies, they really are so clueless they do not even know what they are doing or the problems that they cause. I guess you just have to laugh at these fools.”

My question to the masses is; When will you figure it out that more regulations and more rules are hurting your freedoms, quality of life and pursuit of happiness? Silly humans, you just don’t get it do you? Consider this in 2006.
