The LNAT test is the National Admission Test for Law in the United Kingdom. Many schools in the United Kingdom require this test to be taken by student that would like to apply for their undergraduate program in law. Currently there are eleven schools that require the LNAT test before you will be accepted into their undergraduate law program. The schools are the University of Birmingham, the University of Bristol, the University of Cambridge, Durham University, the University of East Anglia, the University of Glasgow, King’s College London, Manchester Metropolitan University, the University of Nottingham, the University of Oxford and University of College London.

The LNAT test is usually taken by the prospective student during the year that they are going to apply for admission at one of these universities. The LNAT test is conducted in partnership with Pearson VUE, which is the computer-based testing business of Pearson Education. The LNAT is a two hour test that is conducted on the computer and divided into two sections. The first section is eighty minutes long and comprised of multiple choice questions that access the ability to read, analyze, comprehend, and infer information from a passage. The second section is forty minutes long and comprised of writing an essay which assesses the ability to construct reasonable arguments.

The reason the LNAT test was developed was to level the playing field for applicants that were trying to enter into an undergraduate law program at one of these universities. This test allows administrators the ability to be more impartial, and allow people from many different walks of life the ability to get into one of these prestigious programs. If for some reason you are unable to take the LNAT test, then you must contact each one of the universities that you are applying to, so that they can give you specific details about the next steps you need to take for admission.
